Gut Support Pesto
This pesto supports gut health, liver health and natural detoxification, and has nutrients to help naturally balance hormones like estrogen and thyroid hormones!

Servings 8 (1/4 cup serving size)
- 1 cup nuts or seeds choose a combo like walnuts, pumpkin seeds, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, etc for nutrient variety
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tbsp raw, unpasteurized sauerkraut
- 1/4 cup plain kefir or Greek yogurt for dairy free, use non dairy kefir or yogurt or sub with equal parts sauerkraut
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- zest of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese for dairy free, can omit or substitute with equal parts nutritional yeast
- 1 bunch fresh cilantro or parsley rinsed; leaves & stems included!
- 1 cup spinach or kale rinsed
- 1/2 tsp salt or more to taste
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper or to taste
- water as needed
Optional Ingredients & Tips
- 2 tsp ground turmeric for anti-inflammatory boost but will alter color!
Add all ingredients to a food processor or high powered blender. Blend until a smooth mixture forms without chunks.
If the mixture needs a little help moving along, add 1 Tbsp water at a time until mixture is well blended.
